Writing ADD #25

Well I'm back on track with writing...I think :P Newest news in my writing adventure - is that I'm doing freelance work! That's actually where most of my writing came from this week :P

Weekly Totals:
Freelance Work: 6
Book Review: 1
Total Words: 2059

I've gotten my first payment too :D

Writing ADD #24

Well, I had a another week of fighting through migraines, and again I didn't meet all my goals, but I still got lots of done so I'm happy about that! I also got a lot more blogging done than I did the week before, so over all, it's a win! I seem to be doing a little bit better physically so far this week, but who knows what that will mean for my writing :P Here's the review:

Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 4
Movie Reviews: 3
Dalia's Story: In progress
Total Words: 3219

Goals:
~ Book Reviews
~ Dalia's Story
~ Finish "A Disturbing Group"
~ Write another "Striking Thoughts" piece.

As you can see, I only got my top two goals accomplished (and the others will be moved forward to this week), but I also wrote up a couple movie reviews that were unplanned. So I guess that balance things out a bit eh? I had a movie day with my brother and so I wrote up reviews on all three movies we watched. I haven't posted any of them yet but I should get at least one, maybe two, posted up this week.

I didn't get as much done on Dalia's Story as I would have liked, but I'm glad I at least got something done. I think this was just one of those weeks where doing original writing was a bit harder than doing things like reviews. So the result? 7 reviews of different kinds and only a few hundred words on my story. Oh well.

I won't bother to post this week's goals, because they are exactly the same as last weeks! Well, some of that's to be expected since they are things I try to get done every week, and the other's, well, if I didn't get them done this week they get to be moved forward!

Writing ADD #23

Well, I definitely didn't meet my goals from last week, but I'm trying to be positive about it. My goals were reasonable if I had a good week. I did not have a good week. Therefore I'm content with what I did accomplish and I'm moving the unaccomplished goals forward to this week!

Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 6
TV Review: 1
Movie Review: 1
Dalia's Story: In progress
Total Words: 3515

The one goal I did meet for last week was I managed to get 6 book reviews written! Woohoo! I still have a pile left, but hey, that's the way it tends to go around here. Especially when I've been living in migraine city and thus spending lots and lots of time reading.

TV Review and Movie Review: I haven't gotten either of these posted yet. I was a bad blogger last week. (I think I only posted one blog other than my Writing ADD post). I had planned on writing either of these last week, it just happened. So they kinda took place of what I was planning. Oopsie. Wait, is that really an oopsie? It's still writing after all!

Dalia's Story: I really need to get cracking and write more on this story or I'm going to miss the dead-line. BUT I didn't give myself a word goal for it last week so, since I did get some done on it, this is another goal achieved!

The two goals I didn't meet were to finish the "A Disturbing Group" piece and write another "Striking Thoughts" piece. So guess what's on my list for this week?

Goals:
~ Book Reviews
~ Dalia's Story
~ Finish "A Disturbing Group"
~ Write another "Striking Thoughts" piece.

Gee - this list looks rather familiar...

Writing ADD #22

I still had a bunch of migraines this week - but I got writing done anyway! yay! Not as much as I wanted, but writing was accomplished, so I'm super happy :) Here's the update:

Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 5
A Disturbing Group: In progress
Lost in a Migraine: Published
Total Words: 2622

Book Reviews: I still have a lot of book reviews to catch up on - but 5 is a start! I still have a full shelf on my little book case though >_> I need to take a picture of my book case one of these days so you guys know what I'm talking about.

"A Disturbing Group" is a from a picture prompt on the writer's web-site I recently joined. Right now BRS doesn't have a ton of activity, but I that's fine with me. Too much would overwhelm me :P When the stories done I'll post it on here as well.

"Lost in a Migraine" was inspired by - guess what??? my migraines! I had a horrible weekend because I was reacting to some chemicals, and I just had to write about it. I didn't know I was sitting down to write a poem, but that's what came out! Just click on the title to go check it out if you missed it.

Plans for this week:
~Finish "A Disturbing Group"
~Write a bunch of book reviews
~Work on Dalia's Story
~Write another "Striking thoughts" piece.

Now to see what actually happens! I'm off to work on Dalia's Story right now...

Writing ADD #21

Wouldn't it be fun to have a dragon cane? It sure beats the standard thing I have that I think we picked up for $10 somewhere... Oh yes, and the reason I'm picturing a cane this morning? I pulled a muscle in my foot this weekend so I'm using a cane right now. Joy.

Let's take a look at what I did last week:
Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 2
Dalia's Story: In progress
Weather Mage: In progress
Total Words 2897

It's rather strange that I only did two book reviews, and my stacked up pile isn't very happy with me, but I don't mind since it means I got lots done else where!

I made some good progress of Dalia's Story. It's for a writing challenge so I REALLY need to stay focused on it! Fortunately the words are flowing each time I sit down to work on it, so I'm not too worried (yet) about getting it done in time. I'm just over 4,000 words in that story, and it has to be 10,000 to 20,000 for the challenge, so I still have a ways to go! One of these days I'll have to figure out how it ends too... I won't be sharing this story until contest time because it's one of the rules.

I did some of my writing this weekend at the market. It was cloudy in the mornings so I could see my hubby's netbook despite it's glossy finish (argh) and I wrote while it was slow. It got really windy for awhile there and for some reason that gave me the idea to right a story about a Weather Mage who's power's tend to backfire :) Don't really have any plans beyond that for the story right now, but I don't really care. I write because it's fun you know?

Last week was pretty full of activities and this week looks a lot more open, so hopefully I'll get lots done, both writing, and on my business!

June was Bleak

I didn't get much writing done this month :( But the good news is that I seem to be getting better again, finally, and we think we have a good idea what's going on this time! I'll do more updating on that later :) Here's what did get published this last month:

Daily Life:

Writing:

Books:

Only 11 posts last month :( But I think I'm on the upswing and I'll get a bunch more done this next month - the last week is a good indicator that I will!

Writing ADD #18

You know, migraines are evil, and they keep preventing me from blogging and writing! *sigh* Oh well. We've got me trying a new treatment (I'll try and blog about it tomorrow) so hopefully life (and writing!) will get better!

In the last few weeks I've done a smattering of writing. 7 book reviews. A "Letter Home" from Illia to her Mum. And I started a new story! I don't have a title for it yet, but it's coming along well. It's about a young, abused girl, who will be saved (I haven't figured out how yet) by a water spirit. I'll let you guys know when it's done!

Writing ADD #17

I know - it's been two weeks since I posted one of these, but considering I didn't write much either week, I figured it would be ok to combine two weeks into one report!

So week before last:
Total
Book Reviews: 4
Total Words: 1139

Yah - nothing exciting there eh? Oh well - it was something :)

Last week:
Total
Book Reviews: 2
Letter's Home 2 - completed & posted.
The Stranger - In progress
Total Words: 1404

Ooo - do you see that loveliness? There is writing that's not simply a book review! Woohoo!

Letter's Home 2 is the much overdue second letter home from my D&D character, Illia, to her Mum. The sad part is that when I finally got a chance to finish it up I realized I only had about a paragraph left to finish it! Oopsie >_>

The Stranger is also a story about Illia. This one isn't connected to the actual D&D story, it's just something that I came up with this weekend. I still need to do a lot more work on it, but it's off to quite the respectable start! And the best part? I wrote it on the plane on the way home from AZ, but didn't have any writing paper, so I wrote it on a napkin and two barf bags :P

Well that's it for now - hopefully I'll get a bunch written this week!

Writing ADD #16

I've decided I really need to start jazzing up my Writing ADD reports with some photos. Make things more interesting ya know? So today's report is brought to you by....the sun! Woohoo! "I'm walking on sunshine..."

I didn't get too much writing done this week. 4 book reports, 1468 words. I'm happy I got that much done though! It was a busy/sick week. Not a good combo for writing. My big accomplishment in writing for the week is that I broke 30,000 words for the year! Yippee!

This week looks to be really busy too. I have some commissions and projects I need to work on. Trying to get my booth in shape for the Saturday Markets. Helping my hubby look for a job. Lots to do! So who knows what this week is going to look like writing wise. Sometimes busy means no writing. Other times it means I'm in "hyper productivity mode" and I get lots of writing done as well! We'll see which one this week turns out to be :P

Writing ADD #15 and a Look at April

This weeks Writing update is pretty dull again - I wrote 3 book reports last week and that's it. In my defense though, I ended up going in for unexpected oral surgery! I don't really remember what ate the rest of the week though. Oh well, I'm getting a decent start to this week. I'm coming out of my drug/pain induced fog and I have tons of book reviews to catch up on :) I did a LOT of reading this last weekend!

I didn't get very much published this last month either - but my brother's twins being born is a good excuse! If I had a more portable laptop (mine got baptized and I have to use a plug in keyboard - not very transportable) I might have gotten more done this month, but that's ok. I don't mind!

Now I need to go review some more books so I can return them to the library. And I REALLY need to post on here more frequently! You don't even want to know how many months behind I am on posting reviews versus what I'm reading right now!

Writing ADD #14

Last week was pretty slim pickings writing-wise. I wrote about the best laid plans...which we all know often go awry! Despite the being ill and other insanity during my week I did manage to get two book reports and a total of 685 words written though :) And I spent time thinking about writing, which can be almost as an important of a step as actually writing! Right? Ah well - this week seems to be starting out better so I'm hoping for more writing to be accomplished this week! After all - the words are practically bursting to be let out.

Writing ADD #13

This is the best week I've had in writing all year long! Yippee!!! I wrote a total of 4,290 words this week, and my previous record for this year was 3,220. (Yes, I keep track of these things). I also broke 20,000 words this week! A land mark week all around :D Here's the summary:
Book Reports: 3
Letter's Home 2: In progress
My Dance with Words: Completed
Aria's Quest: 1 section
Geocaching 101: Completed
Movie Review: 1
The Artists: in progress
Total Words: 4290

Book Reports - didn't write as many as usual this week. Partially because my stack of books is getting lower so I don't feel the same urgency and partially because I had so many other writing things on my mind!

Letter's Home 2 - I'm about half way done with this letter. I was waiting to see if anything more happened in that "day's" worth of game play, and it did! Wait till you hear about our party :)

My Dance with Words - I actually wrote this about 3 months ago but never completed it. I keep a "Works in Progress" sheet in Word (although I keep a lot of other info in there as well) and I was perusing it one morning after I'd written my book review when nothing was jumping out at me to write. I realized I'd never finalized this - so I did that and it's been posted to my blog.

Aria's Quest - I have this week's segment written up - I just need to edit it and post it (tomorrow hopefully)

Geocaching 101 - I wrote this for my "Adventuring Elf Sisters" blog. I've only posted the first part though. More to come in the next few days!

Movie Review - I tend to post movie reviews as soon as I write them (instead of being behind like I am with books. I really enjoyed this movie - so writing the review was a lot of fun too!

The Artists - I sat down late one evening planning on writing the opening sketch before I went to sleep so I'd be ABLE to sleep. Two pages later... I'm not sure where I'm going with this story yet, but I'm having a lot of fun with just the beginning! I haven't gotten to work on it since that first evening, but I've been worrying ideas like pebbles over and over in my mind :)

*phew* And if you haven't understood before - now you know why I call this Writing Add! I tend to have a lot of ideas, and on a good week, I may end up writing about a LOT of different things! Just like on a good week I end up doing a bunch of different crafts :)

March - An Up and Down Month

This last month was really an up and down one. I had some REALLY good days - and some REALLY bad days. Despite that, I think overall things have been looking up. I've worked through a lot of the emotional aftermath of losing my Granny (I still tear up though!) and I'm enjoying spring and looking forward to a summer full of possibility! Here's the wrap up for last month:

Writing ADD #12

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is doing well :) I'm hanging in there. Reacting to something but I'll live.

My dear hubby's birthday is on Wednesday so we went out to lunch with his family at the Mongolian Grill yesterday. It was really good! I need to experiment more with stir fry's. I've never really cooked them - but I love eating at the Mongolian grill so I've gotta be able to figure out a way to cook it yummy at home too right?

I had a decent writing week - here's the report:

Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 6
Letter's Home 1: Completed
Letter's Home 2: Started
Total Words: 2680

The Letter's Home are letter's from my D&D character home to her Mum. I'm publishing them on our team blog. You can find it here if your interested in reading it! We're almost done with the next "day" of play, and I'll finish the second letter as soon as we finalize the day and I know I don't have anything else I want to write :P I've already worked on it some today. Now I need to do some book reviews and work on my other stories... There's just so much I want or need to work on right now!

Writing ADD #11

I'm so happy! Last week was a really good week - I got a lot done and felt good the vast majority of the week! That translates to the most writing I've gotten done since the beginning of January! Here's the report...

Week's Total:
Book Reviews: 4
Aria's Quest: 1 section
Letter's Home 1: In progress
Poem (ballad): finished
Total Words: 2546

The only thing I'm really disappointed in myself about at all is that I wrote a section for Aria's Quest - but never edited it or published it. Oh well, it'll go up tomorrow.

The "Letter's Home" is something that I'm doing for fun with our D&D group. I'm going to be writing regular letters home to "my mum" from my character Illia. They will talk about what's been happening in the game, and maybe have a few amusing extras. Ya never know! Since it's an online game, things move pretty slowly (because were dependent on people having a chance to log in) so I don't know how often I'll write them. But whenever I finish and publish one on our D&D blog I'll let you know in my weekly ADD post :)

The poem/ballad was something I wrote up spur of the moment for our D&D game. So it's not polished or anything, but I'll share it with you anyway :)

"Ariella was a farmers daughter,
Full of laughter, full of grace,
She was the light of her Papa's eye,
And her Mama's dearest friend.

Everyone loved the farmer's daughter,
Every teacher, clerk, and stranger,
And every boy would stare after her
Hoping she'd smile for them.

Till one day the farmer's daughter,
met a boy with eyes of blue,
His eye's were full of tears,
And she didn't know what to do.

And so that farmer's daughter,
made it her goal to see if,
she could make those eyes of tears,
Clear as the morning sky.

She tried, that farmers daughter,
to tell jokes, and stories gay,
She brought him cakes and pies,
And tried to brighten his day.

Until one day the farmers daughter,
Saw the blue eyes clear of tears,
and so fast you hardly saw it,
a smile crossed his solemn face.

And now the farmers daughter,
is married to that boy so serious,
Who blue eyes are still full,
But full of joy, laughter, and love.

Ariella was a farmers daughter..."

Writing ADD #10

Well, my week started out with great plans, only to get squashed by a three day migraine that left me in bed for the majority of those three days. The first 24 hours I was only awake for about 5 hours total! Crazy. I'm on the upswing again though and hoping this week goes better!

Here's my summary for the week:
Weeks Total:
Book Reviews: 3
Aria's Quest: 1 section
Total Words: 1291

Goals for this week:
~ Continue to write book reviews
~ Write and publish another section of Aria's Quest
~ Work on my "Water" story.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Writing ADD #9

I actually have good news to report! I didn't meet my goals this last week, but I did REALLY good considering my best friend was in town for the week and I spent most of last week either spending time with her or recovering from the energy spent while spending time with her!

What does that mean? Well I didn't get any of the writing done on Aria's Quest or my Water story...but I did get 6 book reviews written! One out of three goals is at least something right? And I've already worked on Aria's Quest this morning, so all I need to do is some editing tomorrow and it WILL be published. The other good news is that, between one thing or another, I managed to write more words this last week than I have since January! I keep a spreadsheet of what I accomplish each week and that was really exciting to see.

Goals/Plans for this week:
1. Keep working on catching up on book reviews (I have 10 books sitting on the floor behind me).
2. Publish Aria's Quest. Write the segment for next week.
3. Work on my Water story.

Do you have any writing goals for this week?

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Writing ADD #8

Once again I didn't have a very good week writing. *sigh* Again, it was due to circumstances beyond my control! Part of it was just being way to busy (and some of that was very unexpected) and part of it was due to exhaustion. This last week I've been super tired, but I just thought it was emotions and doing too much. I didn't realize until yesterday that a good portion of it is the withdrawals from the steroids I've been on for my asthma. Apparently my adrenals have been mostly shut down for the last two years and now they are trying to learn to work again. So it could be a month or more until I start feeling energy again.

That fact was hard to assimilate, but knowing that also gives me a bit more incentive to push myself. Because if I don't nothing is going to get done in the next month, and that's not acceptable to me. Don't worry, I'll give myself breaks too and let myself get a ton of sleep!

Accomplished this week:
~ 2 book reviews

Goals for this next week:
~ Write and Publish a segment of Aria's Quest! (that's what I'm grumpiest about not accomplishing last week)
~ Catch up on ridiculously high pile of book reviews at least somewhat.
~ Work on my "Water" story.

The good news is that the "Water" story is an idea that came to me yesterday and I jotted down a page of notes on in my planner, and I've already written one book review this morning! So I'm on the path to success for this week - now we just have to see what actually happens.

Monday, February 22, 2010

Writing ADD #7

It's been awhile since I've done a writing ADD post - and with good reason. I just haven't had the energy to put into writing anything good as we've been dealing with my Granny dying. Both because of the emotions and because of my body reacting to the stress by giving me lots of migraines and things! I did manage to get a few book reviews written this last week, but I'm waaaay behind on my "to review" pile! I tend to hide in books when I'm emotional.... I'd like to get back to more "normal" writing this week, but I think I need to tackle that pile too. So my goals for this next week are to write and publish the next segment of Aria's Quest...and catch up on my reviews a wee bit :)

On a positive note, even though writing hasn't gone as well as I'd like it to this year because my personal life has (rightly) gotten in the way, I did finally break the 10,000 word mark this last week! Now most of that has been book reviews (I've written 21 so far this year), but at least that's something!

January - Looking Back

January was another crazy and difficult month - but I got through it and I'm ready to face February! I think... LOL Here's a recap of what I've posted....

Personal Posts

Writing

Book Reviews:

All in all, while it was a rough month, and I didn't come anywhere near CLOSE to meeting my writing goals, I think I did pretty good overall! Why? Because I put up a whole lot more of my own writing (non book reviews) than I have in months! I'm very happy about that. Here's to a better month this month!
