A Spell for Chameleon by Piers Anthony

"A Spell for Chameleon" is the first book in the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. I started this series out of order, picking up "Ogre, Ogre," and quickly decided I needed to go back to the beginning! I wasn't disappointed either.

In this book we get to begin exploring Xanth alongside Bink as he seeks out the Good Magician Humfrey in an effort to discover whether or not he has any magical ability. This is a question of vital importance to Bink, because he'll be exiled on his next birthday unless he can demonstrate a magical talent. That's the law in Xanth. Unfortunately he's never shown even the slightest hint of a magical ability!

Along the way Bink meets quiet a few interesting characters, examines who he is, travels to Mundania, and ponders the nature of Xanth and magic. The book is also full of crazy creatures, hilarious puns, and some good old fashioned fun!
