Spending Time with Peter

I went up to visit my Granny again this week, and I went up with Peter this time! It was good to spend so much time with him! He's only been back in town for a week or two, and he tends to be a one on one person, so a road trip was the perfect way to reconnect. Not to mention I love how relaxed and laid back a road trip with Peter is. I have fun with Gordon too - for totally different reasons - but this time it was nice to have things so relaxed. There's been a lot going on lately, and I think I really needed that.

We listened to a wide range of music; country, swing, old school Christian, sometimes talking, and sometimes just listening and/or singing along!

It was good to spend more time with Granny - but I don't think I can really talk about that right now. Too many emotions, too private. I'm sure you understand :) The good news is that her radiation treatments are done with - and she has a wee bit of time to regain strength before she has to start chemo. The docs are saying that the chemo shouldn't be too rough - here's hoping and praying!

On the way up we met up Dad in a little tiny, rugged, cafe. That was fun! It was his birthday so it was nice to get to see him, and he was on his way home to spend some time with Mom. He'll be going back up next week sometime. Lunch was fun, even though I ordered breakfast, and MAN those were some of the best hash browns I've had in a long time!

Since Dad was back home, Peter and I stayed at Granny's house by ourselves, which just meant more time to hang out! I even got him to cook me breakfast :P There's a whole story there, I'll share it soon!

Oh yes, and we saw the last 2/3'rds of the movie Aliens. I enjoyed it - and its nice to have seen more than the last 5 minutes of the movie. Of course, some day, I'd still like to see the beginning.

Mommy got an Xbox!

My Mommy got an Xbox! Nooo...silly...not the Gaming system. What would my MOM do with that??? Let's get real here people. No, she' got a 2006 Scion XB - which we are calling an X-Box because it looks like a box and the initials make it appropriate :P

As you all should know by now, my Mom is super-duper talented, and I already know what I'm getting for my birthday! Why? Because she needs to fit it to me! LOL Here's my loverly purple sweater in progress :) It's farther along than this, should be done by my birthday in two weeks, bu this is the most recent pic I have. I'm so excited! As soon as its done I'll get a modeling picture for you :)

Cookies and Milk Cupcake

Doesn't that cupcake just look scrumptious? I can't eat it because I can't have milk any more, but if I could, I would want it for my birthday! Which is what today's post is all about - birthday's! Why? Well the Etsy Bloggers Carnival this week is:

1)Tell about your favorite birthday memory, gift or wish... OR 2) Show & tell: Summer line - what you will be making/showing in your shop this summer... I could have posted about my summer plans, but I don't really have set plans for a summer line in my shop! I have lots of plans of things I want to create, but none of them are a specific line...so I thought I'd post on this blog about my birthday! I was born on Thanksgiving Day, and that's always made my birthday um, interesting. It's not like my birthday is on Thanksgiving every year, but it's always really close to it, and that makes it hard to plan things! I remember being really disappointed when I was little because we'd try to plan parties and find out that all my friends were going to be out of town at different times around the holiday. Some years we didn't try and just did family things. Other years we pulled it off! For someone who tends to be a hopeless romantic, I've come to the point where I don't really get super excited about birthdays, but that's ok :) Between the timing of my birthday, and some bad memories, it's probably better this way! I'll never forget the year my best friend betrayed me on my birthday, or spending my 21st birthday at work getting hit on by a short little Mexican guy, but those are behind me. Now I focus more on making any event I can special. I think if you put too much hope on a single day or event than you'll be disappointed too often. Especially when you have a body that's as messed up as mine that tends to destroy plans!  So make the most of each day. Treasure the little things. Celebrate the mundane. Enjoy life!

 

Happy Birthday Peter

You've heard me talk about my brother Gordon the most, and that's because as much as I love our younger brother, he doesn't live in the country any more! He's also a little sporadic with communication. He left for Nepal in January, 2008, and won't be back until sometime in January next year. I miss him all the time, but today is extra hard because it's his 21st birthday! The only good thing is that he sent us a whole bunch of pictures, for the first time since he's been gone, and so we get to "see" him! Woohoo! I thought I'd share a few with you :)

And yes, the clean-shaven boy and the boy with the big beard are the same guy! The big hat he's wearing is from Australia, he bought it years ago when he stopped over there on a mission trip and it's become one of his trade marks. The crochet'd hats he's wearing in some of these are hats Mom made him.
